Cleveland…

March 6th, 2008

Every once in a while I find a TV show that I actually like well enough to repeatedly sit through the re-runs. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but the shows of today aren’t as great as they used to be. Remember Knight Rider? Alf? The Cosby Show? A Different World? The original Law and Order format… before the acronym spinoffs started (SVU, etc.). Or what about good old fashioned Cops? I still Crank Dat Police Officer when I hear the theme song come on! And you know recently, I found out that a good friend of mine was on Cops, but not they way you may think! Ha! She was an “Extra” if you will. Anyways, I’m getting away from the point. There is a show that I love dearly and it’s because it’s really an intelligent show. Can you guess what it is? Nope, it doesn’t come on PBS or the Discovery Channel and by me saying “intelligent” I’m sure you’ve automatically guessed that it doesn’t come on BET. I hate to say it but, it’s a Fox show and it’s “The Family Guy”. I like this show because the wit is unmatched and all of the jokes are incredibly clever.

I’m happy to announce that in the same year we have an African American man and woman running for president, Fox news is considering giving my man Cleveland from the Family Guy his own spin off show! I’m really excited about this. I may create a new dance “Crank Dat Cleveland” in honor of his accomplishment. Tell everybody about this. This is great news!!

You’re Welcome…

“I did joints with Mary J. Blige …..” – Jay Z

Who doesn’t love a cool Jay and Mary J collab? I think it’s one of the craziest Bonnie & Clyde combos in hip hop. Remember “Can’t Knock The Hustle?” Anyways, I think they did this track for the upcoming tour. Check it out. Tell me what you think!

Common – The Light 2008 Featuring Marsha Ambrosius and Bilal

“Some people recognize the light but they can’t handle the glare…” Common

I remember when Common’s original version of “The Light” came out on the Like Water for Chocolate album. That was a good time in hip hop… I long for those days to come back… Outkast, Common, Mos Def, Black Star, The Roots… they all had banging albums out and nobody was trying to “Crank Dat” next stupid dance. Anyways, Common, Marsha Ambrosius, Bilal and “Justin” Blaze (as Jay Z calls him) and the other usual suspects are still trying to keep hip alive with some really good music. Check out this remix “The Light 2008″. Enjoy!
