Guyana Fun Day In Atlanta

So I’m going back and telling you guys about my Memorial Day Weekend. I ended up doing a lot. So, that Saturday I went to the Caribbean Funday and I even stopped by the Atlanta Jazz Festival to check out Herbie Hancock. There were a gazillion people there. Here’s a pic to see for yourself:

And oh yeah, it was hot out there too. I didn’t get there until 7:30pm and it was still hot. Man I can’t wait until fall comes. So anyways, back to the topic at hand.

So Sunday rolls around and I was looking for something to get into after church. My girlfriend’s family is Guyanese, so we decided to go check out the Guyana Fun Day that was held in a sports complex in Decatur. I really thought I was going to have a good time, especially since I was starting to get used to the heat. Too bad fun wasn’t going to happen. We had to park at a near by school and walk over half a mile to the event location, only to be greeted by this:

Please notice the Police motorcycle. It turns out that there were entirely too many people in the complex and the combination of crowd overflow and the crazy traffic caused the authorities to shut the event down. All of this just happened to be going down while we were walking up to the gate.

I don’t know if you’ve heard much about Dekalb’s finest, but they’ve been known to shoot and kill without provocation.
Now I’m not saying this is true, but I’m just saying what I keep seeing on the news and on TV. Believe what you want, but just know I kept my distance (read as: the above pic was taken with the zoom).

So the point of all this is that I didn’t even get in the gate. What a great lead in into the holiday!! Yeah!!!!!!!!
