GAS AND BAIL

June 25th, 2007 by demonterious

This is just a little randomness I found while riding around Atlanta. I remember always looking at the news and hearing about $3 gas prices in California, but never in Atlanta. When the heck is the price of gas going down? I’m going to have to get another job just to handle the cost of gas!

Secondly, I want you to take a look at this picture and just observe the advertisement. Check out the subliminal messages that are being sent.

Now I found this gem on the back of a good ol’ Marta bus.  I can’t blame Marta for it, they’re just hustling to make sure they stay out of the red.  This ad is obviously for a bail service and has in bold black letters “Free At Last” right above the Christian Fish… What does that mean? The fact that guy is in the foreground would signify to me that he is the one that needs to be “freed”.  If you look a little closer the younger young lady appears to be closer to him in the pic than the older lady.  I take this to mean that the younger one is probably his girlfriend or “baby mamma” and she had to get help from Mommy Dearest to get their son/boyfriend/”baby daddy” out of jail.  And everyone that looks for God finds him in jail, so maybe that’s where the fish comes in.  I don’t know about this one.  I’m wondering if this is art imitating life or a good accurate representation of reality??  You make the call.

Guyana Fun Day In Atlanta

June 15th, 2007 by demonterious

So I’m going back and telling you guys about my Memorial Day Weekend. I ended up doing a lot. So, that Saturday I went to the Caribbean Funday and I even stopped by the Atlanta Jazz Festival to check out Herbie Hancock. There were a gazillion people there. Here’s a pic to see for yourself:

And oh yeah, it was hot out there too. I didn’t get there until 7:30pm and it was still hot. Man I can’t wait until fall comes. So anyways, back to the topic at hand.

So Sunday rolls around and I was looking for something to get into after church. My girlfriend’s family is Guyanese, so we decided to go check out the Guyana Fun Day that was held in a sports complex in Decatur. I really thought I was going to have a good time, especially since I was starting to get used to the heat. Too bad fun wasn’t going to happen. We had to park at a near by school and walk over half a mile to the event location, only to be greeted by this:

Caribbean Fun Day in Atlanta…

June 14th, 2007 by demonterious

A lot of people aren’t aware of it, but there is an extremely large community of people from the Caribbean here in Atlanta. Over the Memorial Day weekend they host a ton of annual events and I went to one of the Saturday events called “Caribbean Fun Day”. This year was my first year participating in the festivities and I actually missed most of the stuff (the parade) because I had a long night the day before. At any rate, I took a few pics. They’re not the best, but hey, it was like 99 degrees outside and we were in the parking lot of Hi Fi Buys Amphitheatre:

and with that said do not focus on the fact that I said Hi Fi Buys Amphitheatre, but pay more attention to the “parking lot” and “99 degrees”. IT WAS HOT AS __________ (fill in your favorite expletive here). Here are the pics, for what they’re worth. Don’t expect me to be creative while sweating buckets in a parking lot with no where to sit down.

GAY BOMBS - The Atomic Bomb of the 21st Century

June 12th, 2007 by demonterious

I often think of myself as a creative person, but apparently my simple ideas can in no way compare to what’s going on in real life. It appears that the Air Force’s Wright Laboratory in Ohio made a proposal to the government to produce a “Gay Bomb”. For $7.5 million, they were going to identify low level hormones in the body and exploit the dosages of those hormones to cause sexual activity. Check out this text from the actual article located here:

Edward Hammond, of Berkeley’s Sunshine Project, had used the Freedom of Information Act to obtain a copy of the proposal from the Air Force’s Wright Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio.

As part of a military effort to develop non-lethal weapons, the proposal suggested, “One distasteful but completely non-lethal example would be strong aphrodisiacs, especially if the chemical also caused homosexual behavior.”

The documents show the Air Force lab asked for $7.5 million to develop such a chemical weapon.

“The Ohio Air Force lab proposed that a bomb be developed that contained a chemical that would cause enemy soliders to become gay, and to have their units break down because all their soldiers became irresistably attractive to one another,” Hammond said after reviwing the documents.

“The notion was that a chemical that would probably be pleasant in the human body in low quantities could be identified, and by virtue of either breathing or having their skin exposed to this chemical, the notion was that soliders would become gay,” explained Hammond.

“The Department of Defense is committed to identifying, researching and developing non-lethal weapons that will support our men and women in uniform,” said a DOD spokesperson, who indicated that the “gay bomb” idea was quickly dismissed.

However, Hammond said the government records he obtained suggest the military gave the plan much stronger consideration than it has acknowledged.

“The truth of the matter is it would have never come to my attention if it was dismissed at the time it was proposed,” he said. “In fact, the Pentagon has used it repeatedly and subsequently in an effort to promote non-lethal weapons, and in fact they submitted it to the highest scientific review body in the country for them to consider.”

Military officials insisted Friday to CBS 5 that they are not currently working on any such idea and that the past plan was abandoned.

Gay community leaders in California said Friday that they found the notion of a “gay bomb” both offensive and almost laughable at the same time.

“Throughout history we have had so many brave men and women who are gay and lesbian serving the military with distinction,” said Geoff Kors of Equality California. “So, it’s just offensive that they think by turning people gay that the other military would be incapable of doing their job. And its absurd because there’s so much medical data that shows that sexual orientation is immutable and cannot be changed.”

I don’t know about this one.  Sounds a little fishy to me.

PAY JAILS????

June 11th, 2007 by demonterious

I was reading a blog from a buddy of mine and it spoke of Paris having an option to go to a pay jail.  So of course I’m kinda like… what the heck is that?  Turns out that it’s some more of that stuff most people wouldn’t know about unless you had a good bit of money.  Check out this article on Pay Jails from the New York Times.

ALL BLACK PEOPLE LOOK ALIKE PART 2

June 10th, 2007 by demonterious

If you guys remember, the last time I posted a video about all black people looking alike, it was a woman that confused Martin Lawrence with Eddie Murphy. Apparently, the extent of all black people looking alike includes congressional officials as well (even though there is a wealth of information available to check facts). Check out this video that aired recently on Fox, a “respected news organization”:

Remember when news organizations used to check facts?? I guess that doesn’t happen anymore.

I Could Care Less… Really

June 9th, 2007 by demonterious

I played for a conference last week and I was pretty much out of the news loop until Saturday afternoon. Can someone please explain to me why the world cares so much about Paris Hilton?? I COULD CARE LESS. Please, for the sake of all that’s good, please stop wasting so much time telling us what she eats in jail, how she combed her hair today, who visited her, what time she got up, etc… I DON’T CARE!!!! I DON’T CARE!!!! I DON’T CARE!!!

Demonterious Lawrence - I'm happy Paris is going back to jail
I still can’t understand what the heck she does to make her so attention worthy. For real, what is this all about? And for the record, I’m happy she’s in jail. I’m so sick and tired of celebrities paying their way out of situations that I could never get out of. SCORE ONE FOR THE GOOD GUYS!!! Nicole, You’re Next!!!!

Look Back… Did You Miss Anything?

June 8th, 2007 by demonterious

Like a dusty camera lens, our lives are often out of focus. Is the answer as simple as wiping the lens? In a sense, yes. The pictures of our life are often blurry or distorted because of the distractions that overtake us. Many times, our destinies are postponed because of the lack of focus and diligence necessary for our faith and associated works to take root and grow. Distractions are a weapon designed to waste your talent and energy on things that are not on your path to success and fulfillment. We often don’t realize that something has been a distraction until something prompts a retrospective look within ourselves.
The key to meeting your destiny and living a whole life is focus. We must begin to focus only on the journey that we have each been predestined to take, eliminating anything that takes your energy and efforts away. Examine your lives. See what it is that you do most and evaluate how this either helps or hinders you from obtaining the desires of your heart. Also, take a look at what you do the least and determine whether doing more of this thing will move your life ahead a little faster. Your actions have a direct influence on whether you receive the things you want out of life.
Look within and eliminate the distractions!
