I may be just a bit late on this, but there is this kid named Genarlow Wilson. He is currently serving time in a Georgia correctional facility on aggravated child molestation charges, but he is only 20 years old. Genarlow was a stand out high school athlete that received attention from all major colleges and had begun to receive offers from recruiters all over the country. Well, it turns out that as a senior in high school, he received oral sex from a 10th grade girl. He was 17 and she was 15, but Ga law states that it is a misdemeanor for two teenagers less than three years apart to have intercourse, but the same law states that oral sex between the two is a felony.

Many people think that this charge was racially motivated since Genarlow was black and the girl was white. Throughout the case both sides stated that the girl initiated the sexual act. Since then, Ga law officials have re-written the law that convicted the athlete, but it’s not retroactive. A new law may be coming soon that can help him.
