Marcus Miller wrote a song called Maputo. I used to play this song all of the time with a jazz band that I gigged with a few years ago. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I’m no geography buff, so it was somewhat of a pleasant surprise to me when we landed here in Maputo.

It was really hot and humid when we got off of the plane, a lot of which is due to the fact that Maputo sits right on the edge of the Indian Ocean. So that means beaches!!! I won’t get excited though, because we’re usually working almost everyday of the tour.
Our accomodations are at this hotel called The Polana Serena Hotel. The rooms remind you of a Holiday Inn, but the lobby and building are beautiful. Check out this view from my room:

Before I got here, everyone was telling me that it would be absolutely beautiful here. It should be okay to take pictures here, so I’ll take some more pics and upload them soon.
