Fruit Loops

What’s the breakfast of Champions?? Yeah, that’s it… Fruit Loops. You ask why Fruit Loops? It’s because the other food at this house just isn’t good. This Bed and Breakfast has a complimentary breakfast that’s just not good. It’s so bad that one of the band members flushed his eggs in my toilet just so that the cook wouldn’t know that he didn’t like them. I’m not a cook at all, but from what I’ve been told, you can’t really mess up breakfast food… I guess that’s not so true after all. So Fruit Loops – The breakfast of Champions, because you have to be a Champ to survive through breakfast every morning.

Anyways, today was cool. We went to a part of Jozi called Ennerdale. No workshop today, but just a show at a community civic center. They had people from the area to open up for us and it was good to see talent from the area. Only half of the people there seemed to enjoy hip hop, and that sub-set of the group had tremendous energy. They learned our songs very fast and sang with us very loudly. Thanks for the love! Yo, this one dude was so mesmerized by the show that he ran on stage during the performance just to ask Jahah for his hat. He just wanted to have something to take from the show. Jahah asked the people to come to the front of the stage, but they all rushed the stage and started passing the mic and free-styling. It got very crazy in there, so we just ended the show there. Afterwards, we took what seemed like a million pictures with the people.

West Side Boys

You know hip-hop is very alive here in South Africa. The people here have no reserves when it comes to showing how much they enjoy the music. Energy from all of the shows and workshops we’ve done has been unbelievable, mainly because not knowing our music or who we were didn’t stop them from showing love.

One thing I’ve noticed is that the people here appreciate everything. Life means a lot to them and they value everything in it, whether it’s familiar or not. Seeing the beauty and greatness in everything is something that I have to work on and I’m going to take that with me and incorporate it into my life.

I am glad you are having a great time. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to share in your experiences. Stay blessed b/c you truly are just that! About the people appreciate everything, that is because they have to work hard for anything so everything is a blessing. As Americans we have alot handed to use and we sometimes take that for granted. It takes going somewhere else to appreciate the little things in life! What a humbling experience! I have got to make that my next out of country trip! Enjoy!
